Free online GPA calculator
This GPA calculator works out your grade point average on the standard 4.0 scale from your course grades and credit hours. Add a row for each class, choose the letter grade you earned, and enter how many credits the class was worth. Your weighted GPA and total credits update instantly as you type — no sign-up, and nothing you enter ever leaves your device.
How to calculate your GPA
- Type each course name (optional — it just helps you keep track).
- Pick the letter grade you received from the dropdown.
- Enter the credit hours for that course.
- Click + Add course for more classes, or × to remove a row.
- Read your GPA and total credits, then click Copy to save the result.
How GPA is weighted
Each grade maps to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on). The calculator multiplies every course’s grade points by its credits, sums those values, and divides by the total credits. Because it is weighted, a high grade in a 4-credit class moves your average more than the same grade in a 1-credit class. Only courses with both a grade and credits above zero are counted.
